Badass Body Wisdom for the Living Goddess (That’s YOU Woman.)

Happy International Women’s Day.

We’ve come a long way since the day when we weren’t allowed to vote – it’s actually been less than 100 years for white women, and in the Southern United States black women have only been allowed to vote for less than 60 years.

Here is a quote from Dr. Christiane Northrup from her book “Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom,” that gives us another indication of how far we’ve come EMOTIONALLY as a society:

“Instead of celebrating our cyclic nature as a positive aspect of our female being, up until very recently we’ve been taught that we shouldn’t acknowledge our periods at all, lest we neglect the needs of our spouses and children. Consider this excerpt from a 1963 insert inside a tampon box: ‘WHEN YOU’RE A WIFE Don’t take advantage of your husband. That’s an old rule of good marriage behavior that’s just as sensible now as it ever was. Of course, you’ll not try to take advantage, but sometimes ways of taking advantage aren’t obvious. You wouldn’t connect it with menstruation, for instance. Yet, if you neglect the simple rules that make menstruation a normal time of month, and retire for a few days each month, as though you were ill, you’re taking advantage of your husband’s good nature. He married a full-time wife, not a part-time one. So you should be active, peppy, and cheerful every day.”

As if THAT advice isn’t a prescription for PMS and full blown rage for the divine feminine Goddess inside each and every one of us right there.

The truth is though, it’s actually a relatively new thing this idea of women’s power.

And we still have a long ways to go.

It’s a new thing to consider the idea of loving & listening to the wisdom of our bodies – instead of being encouraged to tune in so we can have more pleasure & power in we were told to suppress what we felt and be the good housewife until very recent times.

I believe this is a huge part of the reason that women suffer from chronic stress & it’s related body breakdown symptoms like digestive issues, adrenal fatigue, anxiety & depression (statistically) more than men.

And this stuff effects men too!

Because when we ignore the body it is only a matter of time that it starts to break down.

And yet when we start to learn how to tune in and actually LISTEN to the deep wisdom our body is CONSTANTLY trying to communicate to us, our lives can change dramatically.

We start to feel more freedom, more JOY, more connection and more ENERGY.

That’s why I’m super passionate about what I do.

I want to reconnect as many people as possible with the incredible “well of being,” that is possible when we live in deep, loving connection with our bodies.

Stay tuned over the next few weeks as I’ve go some more juicy “body wisdom” tips coming your way.

In love & light,

Josea Tamira Crossley
