Hi, I'm Josea Tamira Crossley...

hey there!
a bit about me
I’m committed to helping my clients to access the innate wisdom of their bodies as a doorway to deeper awakening and freedom.
I have over 20 years of study and experience in working with trauma and grief and have been counselling for over 5 years and facilitating grief ritual and process work for the past four years. My work is grounded in training in Somatic Therapy, Attachment Theory, Healing Sexual Trauma, Deep Nature Connection, Craniosacral therapy, Somato Emotional Release, Shamanic Study, Tibetan Buddhism and Yoga.
I have trained with expert grief facilitator Francis Weller (author, Wild Edge of Sorrow), as well as key Somatic & Relational Therapy teachers Mariah Moser (Relational Somatic Psychotherapy), Peter Levine (SE), Diane Poole Heller (DARe), Irene Lyon (SmartBodySmartMind), Elizabeth Claire Burr (CST, SER & Vijnana Yoga) & 8 Shields Institute.
I believe firmly in the intertwined health of body, mind and soul and have been direct witness to the miraculous healing in both myself and my clients that can happen as we access the deep wisdom and intuition that resides in the body.
Your body is an AMAZING gift, but it can feel like a burden when we are holding unprocessed grief or trauma, or when we haven’t learned how to navigate the emotions so they become locked into the body as pain or numbness.
I would love to help you feel more connected to and in love with your body and really receive the full gift that life embodied can be.
Through a commitment to healing we open the possibility to experience joy, freedom and deep well-being.
I invite you to step with me through the doorway and into one of the most powerful vessels for awakening and healing in this lifetime ~ your own body.
I am a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor through the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada and can accept insurance through Pacific Blue Cross, Sun Life, Manulife, Claimsecure, Equitable Life of Canada, Alberta Blue Cross & Green Shield.
I offer a free 20 minute Consult for us both to feel if working together would be a good fit.

Okay, so here’s the scoop – I’m not just this amazing healer, leader and entrepreneur.
I’m also a mom and was a solo-parent for five years after a string of bad relationships.
I got into this work because, well, I was a mess….
I had a tough childhood with a single mom who had a tough life.
So by the time I got to supposedly being an adult, I was in so much pain, both physically and emotionally that I had to figure something out.
My first taste of healing came early. When I was 18 I moved to Tofino (West Coast BC) to learn how to surf and ended up living with a woman who had been to India 5 times and invited me to come to a yoga class with her.
I was like, “what’s yoga?”
I was like
"What's yoga?"
Long story short I went to the class, and then I went to a lot of classes all the time, and I started to figure out that, “Woah – I can change things from the INSIDE…”
So that was big.
But then I moved away from Tofino and couldn’t find another yoga teacher that resonated with me. I felt mostly pretty lost and my physical health declined as I tried all kinds of crazy “miracle cures”…I was also learning tons even though I had no mentors I absorbed some incredible understanding and insight through reading.
I found mentors through their books and soaked them in like sunshine. I even slept with my books sometimes thinking I could maybe absorb more that way.

a new chapter
Then in 2007 I met my teacher Elizabeth Claire Burr and began intensively practicing Vijnana Yoga and receiving healing and mentoring in the Craniosacral Therapy & Somato-emotional Release tradition.
I began to see and feel some real change in my life – much more ability to stay in my centre when difficult emotions arose, and I slowly became more grounded and peaceful over all.
I think also in that time I became a better mom, because as I learned to navigate my own emotional ups and downs I also became better at being with the emotions of my wee spunky toddler.
Kids are amazing at showing you your shit, that’s for sure. Parenting is definitely one road to enlightenment. Which is another way of saying it’s crazy difficult – but Somatic Therapy can definitely help make it easier so if you have kids I super recommend it.
In 2011 I discovered the work of Peter Levine (Somatic Experiencing) and inhaled all of his books. I found that adding some of the techniques he teaches to support trauma release took my Craniosacral work with clients to the next level and also gave me a deeper understanding of why I was weird in some of the particular ways that I am/was.
I’m always studying and learning more, and I really believe in mentorship so I always have mentors I’m working with pulling me forward just as I pull my clients forward.
In 2015 I started doing online/distance sessions with clients and I found that it works well for people to be in their own homes but still have access to my support. It’s really beautiful to be at a place now where I’m 6 years into working with some of my clients for that whole time and watching them just thriving now – some of them (like my client Linda Allison who you can read about on my Testimonials page) came from being in such intense pain and now she’s just thriving. I love doing this work – it’s such a blessing watching people unwind their trauma until it becomes just a thing that happened once – a part of your story – but no longer controlling your life.
You can have that kind of freedom too.
I’d love to support you if you’re ready.
Hey look...
