Even if you, like me, are feeling deeply broken-hearted & torn apart by what is happening in the world, it is still critical to nourish ourselves WHILE taking action and doing what we can. ⁠

When we experience major loss, crisis or change in

When we experience major loss, crisis or change in our lives, it is common to feel disoriented, overwhelmed or even completely undone. And yet these type of experiences, since time immemorial, have also been the hallmarks of INITIATION. ⁠
⁠
The initiatory quality of grief is one not to be disregarded. When we can learn to embrace this process and turn our pain into medicine, not only do we find a deeper connection with our soul and a sense of renewed purpose in the world. We also deepen our connection with LOVE, with SPIRIT, and with LIFE.⁠
⁠
In a world that tells us, “Pull up your bootstraps and carry-on,” “Haven’t you taken enough time off work?” etc, it can be hard to know where we are truly supposed to be, let alone receive the gifts of our grief…⁠
⁠
When you feel it, it is a feeling so ancient & profound, that your whole body cannot help but move towards it. ⁠
⁠
And yet it can also feel daunting, and we may hesitate – because our Soul often asks more of us than we are ready to give. ⁠
⁠
Our Soul doesn’t mind our mistakes and failures. It’s okay to not have much to say. It’s okay to be quiet. It’s not just okay, it’s crucial to dance, scream, cry, wail, pray, meditate, stretch those tight places - do what you need to do to stay embodied. We are living now in the time which Francis Weller calls, “the Long Dark.” It’s a good day to pray, and if you are called to support others who are grieving, to commit even more deeply to your mission. Things are likely to get much more difficult before they get better. May our hearts be open. 🩵🌀✨🌊🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉✊🏽

If we can move through the waves of emotions and energy that come with our grief, eventually, we will most likely find ourselves in a place of deep gratitude and reverence for All-That-Is. ⁠

Which does NOT mean the grief is gone. ⁠
⁠
Eventually, we learn to walk with grief as a companion and trusted friend, rather than a thing we wish we could get rid of. ⁠
⁠
And slowly, we begin to recognize that reverence, gratitude, and even deep joy CAN be a part of this new Self we have become. ⁠
We begin to transform our pain into medicine for the world. ⁠
⁠
If we get stuck in our grief, however, we may feel more and more disconnected from Spirit, from our own Soul and from everyone around us. ⁠
⁠
This is why it is so essential to have the right support to move through grief. It’s not that we are fixing it - it’s that we need to work with this powerful energy in a way that makes it into the medicine it can be. ⁠
