The whole point is building more capacity for ALL emotions including JOY. The whole point is that we are moving the energy in a way that transforms pain into medicine. The whole point is we get even more deeply connected to LIFE, to SPIRIT and to LOVE, but also really grounded in our BODIES. The whole point is to recognize and welcome ALL OF YOU. 🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🌀✨🌊 #feelingishealing #danceitthrough #griefsupport #grievingiswork #traumasupport

Do you find it hard to ask for help? Most people find it much easier to offer than to ask for help when they need it. ⁠
⁠
Giving and receiving are two parts of the flow that allows us to be in relationship with each other. We need both, and someone needs to do the more vulnerable thing of asking for support! ⁠
⁠
Asking for help allows others to step into service and leadership, and brings people together in community. Asking for help is also a form of leadership, because we lead the way and set an example for others to do the same. ⁠
⁠
Compassion needs all of us in relationship + reciprocity in order for love in service to truly blossom. Asking for help builds community. ⁠
⁠
We need one another, pure and simple. ⁠
⁠

🙏🏾We need each other to heal, plain and simple. We aren't meant to go through grief in isolation. We are social creatures - we need human contact, empathy + witnessing to be at our healthiest. ⁠

All humans (and other animals too!) will experience grief at some point in our lives. We were never meant to grieve in isolation.⁠

One of the most beautiful things that I see happen over and over again in our online community and within our retreats is the de-shamifying of each person’s grief experience. People come in, and suddenly feel welcome, safe and at home. ⁠

Because society teaches us to isolate and keep our difficult emotions hidden, and show up with a smile on our faces, we often think that no one else around us has the kind of feelings we do. ⁠
⁠
Being witnessed in a compassionate and mutually vulnerable group increases our ability to have deep compassion for ourselves and others. ⁠
⁠
WHEN WE SHARE AND WITNESS EACH OTHER’S GRIEF IN COMMUNITY, WE TRANSFORM IN A PROFOUND WAY THAT SIMPLY IS NOT POSSIBLE IN ISOLATION OR IN 1:1 THERAPY.⁠

One of my students shared this beautiful analogy recently in one of our group meetings: ⁣🌲🌲🌲⁠
They said, “I like to think of it like if you were to put a stone in a very small jar, so that the stone barely fits in. Then gradually, over time and practice of this work the jar gets bigger and bigger. The stone doesn’t go away or get smaller, but the jar gets bigger.” ⁠
🪨🪨🪨⁠
And so it is - our pain doesn’t necessarily get smaller or go away, but our CAPACITY expands. 🤲⁠

I’ve met people who have had some of the greatest losses in life, and I’ve been blown away by how their hearts are so big.⁠
♥️⁠
I believe this is because they have had to expand their love so much to make space around the pain to allow life in again.⁠
♥️⁠
We can all do this, but it takes practice, and support.⁠
