Many traditions have recognized that there are potent times of the year to send out our prayers. Times when Nature supports our manifesting or releasing.🤍⁠
⁠
❄️Winter is a particularly potent time for grief work as the Earth embraces us in darkness, and the earth is covered in water (rain and snow). ⁠
⁠
🌚In the darkness and with the support of community we may more easily able to connect to our grief & to share what is in our heart with others, if we can find the right support.⁠
⁠
For centuries our ancestors gathered together against the cold, gathered around the hearth to tend to one another. This is the time when we are meant to pull our loved ones close, and yet so many are living in isolation. 😢⁠
⁠
It’s important to remember that others are yearning for connection at this time also, and that we CAN come together in Sacred space with a 'soul family' that shares a common intention. ⁠
⁠
It’s imperative we find ways to slow down, feel and integrate all that our heart has been holding through these challenging times. ⁠
⁠
💗When we gather intentionally to be with our grief, from this place with kindred souls, we can find the heart of perseverance, we can allow ourselves to be filled up in order to keep facing the world with our hearts wide open.⁠

When we are can't access the time, space and, SKIL

When we are can't access the time, space and, SKILLS needed to grieve well, we may feel like we have no choice but to unleash our pain and trauma on to others. ⁣ ⁠

This is literally the trauma pattern playing out in the world right now.😭⁠
⁠
💧The kind of pain moving in the world at this time is unbearable to feel alone. The pain of losing a child, or all of your children. The pain of losing generations of loved ones. The pain of displacement from the only homeland you have ever known. The pain of never knowing your homeland. It’s so huge. So, so huge.🇵🇸⁠
⁠
Over a year into this g3nocide, it is as undeniable as it has ever been, that this level of violence and destruction can only stem from hearts cut off from feeling. When our hearts are open we cannot do this kind of harm, because to see another hurting we feel their pain. ⁠
⁠
I have had the privilege of working, over the years, with people who have been through some of the hardest things a human being can endure. And yet they say yes to their grief, and therefore their hearts stay open. They are some of the most LOVING humans I've met. ⁠
⁠
They have made it through, and not only that, but in sitting with their pain they have turned into some of the kindest and most compassionate people I know. ⁠
⁠
💔We cannot continue to justify violence as a solution for our pain. 💔⁠
⁠
Inter-generational trauma is begging to be addressed.🧡⁠
⁠
But the healing can’t happen if the bombing continues.😢⁠
⁠
If homes are destroyed.😢⁠
⁠
If people are constantly in survival mode.😢⁠
⁠
🤲We must have a space where we can feel the immensity of this - a space to wail and rage and cry - without doing harm to ourselves or others. ⁠

How can we create more safe spaces for grief?

The Winter Holiday Season can be especially difficult for grievers. It's not that we feel grief more than other times, it's just that it is reflected back to us in so many ways...⁠

PROCESSING GRIEF REQUIRES SKILL, AND A MAP OF THE TERRAIN.⁠

✨Envision a 12-week journey, delving into the depths of your own underworld with support. ⁠

In one version of the Greek myth of Persephone, Hades abducts her and imprisons her in the Underworld against her will.⁠

Her story often portrays her as a victim, with her return to her natural home attributed to her Mother, Demeter’s fierce care and devotion. ⁠

However, during her time there, she honed remarkable skill, embracing this new place as her second home where she would reside for half the year. ⁠
⁠
👑As Queen of the Underworld, she brought love and compassion to this otherwise desolate place.🌘⁠

When we lose those we deeply love, our task is to acknowledge that a part of us will now dwell in the Underworld, at least part-time, and to infuse this place with as much love and compassion as possible.⁠
