🤲For almost 25 years now, I have been holding space for thousands of people who are on a journey of connecting more deeply to their souls. What I have seen is that for every human, simply through the very nature of being ALIVE and by virtue of being deeply connected to ourselves, each other and nature, grief is a companion we cannot avoid.⁠

💡Nor would we want to, once we understand it more.⁠

🖤With grief, what I have noticed over and over again, the important factor in healing and not only surviving from grief but being able to thrive, is a community of souls willing to go to the depths WITH you.⁠

Here’s what it’s like holding really big space

Here’s what it’s like holding really big space for grief: I fail frequently. I get uncomfortable and don’t even realize it’s happening until I say the wrong thing. I don’t say anything when I should say something. I speak too soon when I should be quiet. And then, like 70% of the time in my work, and 30% of the time in “real life”relationships, I hit the nail on the head and someone’s life changes forever, because they finally feel heard/seen/welcomed in all of the places they never did before, and they finally see that and really get that all of them can be welcome. Mostly that happens when I don’t say much and just listen. Which is a real serious skill. It’s also context= magic which happens through setting the intention and then somehow magically Spirit moves and brings all the right people into the room (zoom or in person) at the right moment and they become that deep medicine for each other. Mostly, it’s just my willingness to TRY to make the kind of space where everything is welcome, so we can come home to ourselves, together, and remember our common humanity. I’m constantly awed by the capacity of the humans who come into my spaces to forgive the things that have harmed them, to transmute their experiences into medicine, and just to LOVE. Love is most of it. Perfection is about 0% of the game, because it is actually in our fumbling that we find our way home. There is no perfect teacher, only the willing student. One of my graduates from the 2023 Dark Woods Grief Tending & Ritual Facilitation Training, Janell, (who is an absolute Queen in her own right) says, “ Student first, teacher second.” I’m so grateful for all of the students, clients and participants in my groups & larger community who continually teach me. Anyone else feel like the weight of the world and intensity is increasing these days?! 😰⁠

If so, you are not alone! Many of my friends and colleagues have been noticing the increasing pressure and weight of these times.⁠
⁠
One thing that can help is to give attention to our somatic + relational resources. The only way through is to recognize our common humanity - to remember that everyone is experiencing some form of grief - either personal or ancestral, and many are stuck in it. In these challenging times, instead of falling into the trap of picking apart our differences and making each other wrong, how can we return to the wisdom of our bodies, find compassion for ourselves and each other and make more space for our humanity? How can we take responsibility for ourselves, and work with our own grief so we are clear when it comes to dealing with others?⁠
How can we support each other to speak up and have the difficult conversations that actually change things? This is love in action. ⁠

🌲Through The Dark Woods is an online, community space (we meet on Zoom and also have a private members online forum) where we come together 4-5 times a month to grieve, laugh, rage, meditate and MOVE the energy of grief in a safe, supportive container. You will learn the essential skills of grieving so that you can rise into your gifts and help yourself and others through the dark woods of these times. 🌲⁠

I can promise you that when we do this work together there is a lot of laughter and joy alongside the tears! Sounds weird, but it's true. 😂⁠
