We are in recovery on so many levels – social is

We are in recovery on so many levels – social isolation, ecological collapse, systemic racism – not to mention our own personal grief, trauma & loss and that of our ancestral lineages.💔⁠

This is a heavy burden to hold on our own and without the right support or skills.😢⁠

👉We must have access to the somatic skills that allow us to find true rest. We must be able to feel ourselves deeply, so we can reconnect with the nourishment and beauty of the Earth, ourselves & each other.🌿⁠

Because the alternative is suppressing our pain. The problem with this solution is that SUPPRESSED PAIN BLOCKS OUR ABILITY TO FEEL JOY & PLEASURE, ALSO.⁠

In order to return again and again to our fullest joy, aliveness, connection with each other & love for life we must have a space to express and process our grief. 💧💛💧⁠

💧When we compare our grief by telling ourselves that our situation is worse than anyone else’s, we push away the people who care about us the most and close our hearts off to connection, love and support.⁠
⁠
⚖️Sometimes comparing our grief to others may cause us to isolate ourselves and stay stuck in our grief, believing we are truly, deeply alone in our experience..⁠
⁠
🙏🏽We are ALL deserving of support, and healing happens through compassion for all parts of ourselves.⁠
⁠
😭It is true that there are certain life experiences that are more likely to bring us to our knees…⁠
⁠
AND, when there is trauma mixed in to our loss it can be more difficult to allow ourselves to move through the natural flow of grief.⁠
⁠
🌀We can get stuck spinning around in what I call the ‘Trauma Vortex’ if we don’t have the skills to pull ourselves out of it.⁠
⁠
Different people might experience the same circumstance differently, depending on if there is a history of trauma, how much support is around them, and whether they have experience working with their grief and trauma prior or not.⁠
⁠
❗️BUT this doesn’t mean that one kind of grief or trauma is more worthy of support than another.⁠
⁠
🤲We all need to do this work and we all need support.⁠
⁠
We need to cultivate compassion for ourselves, and in my experience, this is a process that must be done in community, with the compassionate reflection of others. ⁠
⁠
We are wounded in relationship and we heal in relationship.⁠
⁠
💚WE ALL NEED TO DO THIS SACRED WORK OF GRIEVING, AND WE ALL NEED SUPPORT. Period. 💚⁠
⁠
